Over the weekend the Neighbourhood Beat Officer for Castlefield, PC Riaz, conducted proactive patrols around Castlefield and Southern Gateway in response to community concerns about anti-social driving in these areas.
On Friday night PC Riaz observed a black Mercedes-Benz being driven at high speed and in a reckless manner. The vehicle was stopped and due to clear signs of drug use, the vehicle and its occupants were searched under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act. These searches uncovered a significant quantity of Class A and Class B drugs along with a large amount of cash. All three occupants were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, with further searches of the occupants in custody uncovering further illegal substances which had been concealed.
All three arrested males have since been released with strict bail conditions whilst the investigation continues.
